When the Seasons Shift: What October Teaches Us About Identity in Christ
Share
Series Launch: “Seasons of Identity — Finding God’s Purpose in Every Chapter”
The change of seasons always whispers something deeper. As the leaves turn and the air grows crisp, October reminds us that nothing stays the same forever. Just as creation shifts, so do our lives — our roles, our families, even the way we see ourselves.
But here’s the good news: while seasons change, your identity in Christ does not.
Things change. Plans change. People change, but Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).
Many of us walk into new seasons carrying the weight of old labels.
- “You’re the black sheep.”
- “You’ll never be enough.”
- “You’ll always be defined by what happened to you.”
Yet God says otherwise. His Word reminds us that we are chosen, redeemed, and made new. October is the perfect month to reflect on this truth — to shed what no longer fits, like the trees releasing their leaves, and to stand firm in the identity God has given us.
This month, we begin a new series: Seasons of Identity. Each post will walk through what it means to embrace your God-given identity through life’s changing chapters:
- Week 1: Releasing Old Labels
- Week 2: Rooted Through the Storm
- Week 3: Walking in Newness
- Week 4: Harvesting Purpose
Encouragement
If you’ve felt stuck in who people said you were, or weighed down by the roles your family placed on you, this series is for you. God is inviting you to release the labels and step into the identity He already spoke over you.

Father, as seasons shift around me, remind me that my true identity is secure in You. Help me release the old labels and step into the freedom You’ve promised. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
