Becoming Who God Always Said You Were
Share
Maybe you’ve spent years wearing a name you never chose.
It might have been handed to you by your family, your church, or even shaped by your own mistakes:
-
The strong one.
-
The black sheep.
-
The overachiever.
-
The one who never quite measures up.
Over time, those labels begin to feel like your identity. They shape how you see yourself, how you relate to others, and even how you imagine God sees you.

I understand because I’ve lived it—performing, hiding, and shrinking myself just to keep the peace or meet expectations.
But here’s the truth: those labels were never God’s final word over your life.
When the Labels Fall Away
Now that the labels are broken—who are you, really?
That question can feel unsettling.
You’ve spent years being “the dependable one,” “the quiet one,” or “the one who always has it together.”
Or maybe you were “the one always in trouble.”

When those false identities fall away, you’re left with space. And sometimes, space feels scary. But God never forgot who you were.
While you were performing, hiding, or surviving—He saw the one He formed in the womb.
The one He called very good.
The one He sent His Son to redeem.
Ephesians 1:4–5 says:
“He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world… In love He predestined us for adoption to Himself as sons through Jesus Christ.”
That means you are not an afterthought.
You are not overlooked.
You are chosen.
Walking in Your True Identity
You don’t have to earn your place anymore.
You don’t have to shrink yourself to be accepted.
You don’t have to keep proving you’re good enough.
You are loved.
You are worthy.
You are His.
